Today's Top 5 picks from Most Popular on Deviantart!

6:52 AM @ Wednesday, June 20, 2012

Let's see some of my picks from Photography in Popular, 24 hours.

1. Water Blast - ElenaKalis
Absolutely STUNNING. Her channel seems to be loaded with these very beautiful anime/manga style, underwater photographs. The colours are beautiful, the idea is very refreshing, in every sense of that word. I'll rate this one straight A+.

2. ...budapest VI... - roblfc1892
Very nice, I like how smooth the reflection on the water looks like, and I'm enjoying these moving clouds. Looks very pure and peaceful. The only thing I seem to dislike about this is its color, or lack of it. I think this would look much better in colour, or at least lighter shades of gray.

3. Korea - angelreich
Loving this. There are absolutely no distracting parts whatsoever, just a perfectly still city and even more still reflection on the water. Beautiful concept, the B/W fits perfectly in this image.

4. Lake Atitlan - IsacGoulart
Very nice colours, he picked a nice time to shoot this. I especially like the clouds and how they cover up the mountain, seems to me like this boat is heading to heaven. However, I dislike the boats appearing on the other corner of this picture. They somehow don't blend in.

5. Curious kitten - Tamerlana
Well this is somewhat the usual image in old towns, for example, where I live in. What I like about this are primarily the colours and how this cute kitty stands out from the stillness, positively. It's also adorable.

Self-Shot Tips!

1:00 PM @ Monday, June 18, 2012

Yup, I'm here to teach you bastards that there are spaces outside the toilet where you can take self-shots.
If you need a new profile picture, please, stay away from the toilet. From many, so many examples we've learned that the toilet is the place with numerous objects that NOBODY WANTS TO SEE. Keep ya privacy, 'kay? For those who take pictures in the bikinis, underwear or nude, there is no help. Maybe the ones who read this article will show them how in this example less isn't more. To self-portraits, less is less and more is more. For those who want to try a life outta the toilet:

1. Find a luminous place, indoors. Outdoors is not preferred because it's difficult to position anything without someone's help.
2. Get a mirror and hang it just a little above the camera. Maybe even tilt the top of it from the wall, if you have the material for it. That way you can position yourself according to what's shown on the screen. Some of the cameras have tilting screen (unfortunately they are all pretty much expensive) so you just tilt it untill you hit the surface of the mirror.
3. CLEAN THE ROOM YOU'RE SHOOTING IN. Nobody (except the pedos and perverts) wants to see your leopard-print thongs, or worse.
4. Take care of clothes you're wearing. Make sure it's something tight, but long enough to cover up your chest or ... ekhm. V-necks are fabulous, strapless or thin-strap tops even better, under the condition of keeping your package COVERED ENOUGH.
5. Keep your photos interesting. Don't make the same face on each one (khmduckfacekhm). Find a detail that breaks the simplicity.
6. These are profile pictures. It's much more preferred to have your picture taken from the top of the head to your waistline or little higher than a full-plan.
7. Close-ups might look even more amazing than half-plan.
8. Smile. You look prettier.
9. Makeup is essential for any type of arranged photoshoot, especially the eye makeup. But don't go overboard. Smokey eyes from your eyebrows all the way to your cheekbones - NOT ATTRACTIVE. Use a single line of eyeliner on upper lid, complete with thin line around the waterline. Add a darker, not too obvious eyeshadow, coat with ONE layer of mascara and paint your lips with neutral colour.
10. Hair. Any type of hairstyle will be tolerated, as long as it doesn't look like you just got up from the bed... Or got attacked by millions of cougars.

I won't even get to Photoshop topic because that needs a second post.
These are tips for taking your profile shot for Facebook or any other network. You don't need to look like a whore. You need to look like yourself. The girl who strips down butt-naked gets only likes but no respect. It's not attractive and one day you'll look back and these photos will turn up somewhere, especially when you grow in an adult person that is trying to get a job. Imagine the embarrasment when your boss finds the naked and embarrasing pictures from your teen ages, and that will happen easy, because it's public and everyone can see. Awful. Be smart, don't strip down for likes, have some decency dammit. Boys like mystery more than a skank.
Anyway, from the artistic point of view (the photos that are not for Facebook but for your site or DeviantArt or even a magazine), anything goes. It's just like the normal photoshoot but with you as a model and photographer. Of course it's hard but if you're determined enough, you can pull it off. But don't exaggerate with nudity, not in these teen years. The nudity is the hardest form of photographing a person and it may take years before you tell apart artistic nude from Playboy nude.

Welcome To Me!

6:54 AM @

So. My name is Raining Insanity (it's my net-name but it's enough for you guys).
I live in a small beautiful country called Croatia, but what ruins it are the daily evens. Since this is not a politics blog, I won't even bother describing those problems.
Anyway, I'm 16, still a newbie in photography. I'm getting a new camera in day or two, it's Olympus E-PL3 and it better be worth its price. I'll give you guys a review of it when I get it.
Up untill now I've used my Kodak Easyshare C-613. Good tool actually, even though it lacks every single manual possibility, more than regular P'n'S. But more on that in my reviews.
So guys, this is what I'll be teaching you:

- How to do various CHEAP tricks, without spending a fortune on hardware or software.
- I'll review every single thing I have in my posession.
- I'll share my art with you.
- I'll give promotions and critiques.
- I'll teach you TECHNIQUES.
- I'll even teach you about make-up, clothes and matching colours if you're into photosessions.
- I'll give you INSPIRATIONS through my critiques.
- And much much more.

Other than photography, my hobbies are music, drawing in some hand, sleeping, writing, eating, hiding somewhere on my own, daydreaming and rest.

This is it from me now. See ya later.
